Four-star WR Davian Groce, one of the elite recruits in the 2026 class, has committed to the Florida Gators. He chose the Gators over Oklahoma and Baylor. The Sooners were the heavy favorites for for his commitment, but after a late push from the Gators, they won out him. Groce is the type of player that’s a pure playmaker every time he touches the ball. The Frisco, Texas native checks in as the #60 overall player and the #6 wide receiver according to the Rivals.com composite rankings.
Billy Napier and Billy Gonzales deserve a lot of credit for the recruitment of Groce as they made him feel like a priority during his official visit back in June. That visit played a major role for Groce, and ultimately why he decided Florida was the right school for him tonight. One of the best aspects about the Gators coaching staff is the fact that they continue to show that building relationships with recruits usually that helps when it’s time for them to commit.
Groce has always been one of the top overall players at his position based on his performances at camps during the summer. He became one of the most coveted prospects in the country and reeled in offers from almost every major power 5 school. The rising senior from Lone Star High School caught 43 passes for 702 yards and 5 TDs on 16.3 yards per reception, while rushing for 687 yards and 7 TDs on 11.8 yards per carry. Added 3 return TDs (2 kick return, 1 punt return). He's a two sport athlete, as he also runs track for his school. You can tell that his speed on the track translates onto the football field as well. He's a legit football player that just so happens to excel in track as well.
Standing at 6’1" 190 pounds, Davian Groce has the ability to play on the outside or in the slot. What makes him such a unique player is the fact that he can be a playmaker in the return game as well. With his speed, he can take the top off the defense, while also going up and high pointing the ball from opposing DBs. He can also line up in the backfield and be a game changer running the ball or catching passes out of the backfield. Simply put, he's one of the best playmakers in the country. He has a chance to get on the field immediately, and he's definitely the type of athlete the Gators have been missing for the past few years. He was sold on the pitch that he could be used the same way Percy Harvin was used back when he played for Florida. Adding him next season with Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown III, Naeshaun Montgomery and Mouizz Tounkara gives the Gators a dynamic WR room.
Davian Groce is the type of kid that can be a game changer at the wide receiver position for the Florida Gators. I believe he has a chance to be an All-SEC caliber player. His speed makes him a mismatch nightmare for opposing DBs, and he’s exactly the type of player that Florida needs. He plays with extreme confidence and poise, and that rubs off on his teammates as well. He’s a great person, player and has a very bright future ahead of him.
