Four-Star QB Davin Davidson Commits To Florida

Updated: 2 days ago

The Florida Gators landed a major commitment tonight, as four-star quarterback Davin Davidson announced his commitment to Florida over Georgia, Auburn, Kentucky and Notre Dame among many others. Davidson visited Florida multiple times over the spring, including a spring practice a couple of weeks ago that made a huge impression on him. The Gators clearly made him their top target for the 2027 class and it paid off. His recruitment really started taking off back in December after he led his high school team to a state championship. Being able to land one of the top players at the most important position is a huge win for Jon Sumrall and the Gators.

Standing at 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, Davidson had become one of the most highly coveted quarterbacks in the country. The Sarasota, Florida native checks in as the #132 overall player and the #12 quarterback according to the Rivals Industry rankings. Schools from all over the country began to offer him because he's has shown the ability to make every throw on the field, but he’s also very athletic and make plays with his legs as well. He is the type of player that can hurt you in all facets of the game.

Florida identified Davidson as their top target at quarterback for the 2027 class. Jon Sumrall and Joe Craddock deserve a lot of credit for landing his commitment. The staff is showing that they have what it takes to recruit with other big time programs and want to build the program back to a consistent championship contender. With guys like Maxwell Hiller and Davin Davidson on board, it is definitely a step in the right direction.

This past season, Davin Davidson completed 132 of 212 attempts while completing 65% completion rate for 2360 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. He also had 3 rushing touchdowns and led Cardinal Mooney to a State Championship.

Looking at his film, he's a very accurate passer that will continue to improve. He has a big arm and is one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the the 2027 class. He's listed as a dual threat quarterback, so he has the ability to make plays with his legs as well. Some people might compare him to former Florida Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks. Davidson and Franks are about the same size and share similar traits as both a passer and a runner, but Davidson is further along in his development.

Davidson is the type of kid that has a chance to be an All-SEC caliber player. His arm strength, accuracy and mobility are why he's one of the best players at his position in the 2027 class. He’s a leader by example, and that’s what you want at the quarterback position. He's has all the traits you want in an elite level signal-caller, great leader, plays with extreme confidence and poise and has a very high football IQ. He’s a great person, player and has a very bright future ahead of him.
