Florida Gators Legacy Ben Hanks Jr. Commits To Florida

If you’re familiar with the history of Florida Gators football in the 1990s, you know that Ben Hanks was one of the best linebackers to ever play for the Gators. Fast forward to August 16, 2024, his son Ben Hanks Jr. announced his college decision to create his own legacy. He decided to commit to Florida over Miami and Louisville. Hanks is the type of player that has the ability to take away one side of the field and be a pure playmaker if he gets an interception. The Miami, Florida native checks in as the #105 overall player and the #12 cornerback according to the 247sports composite rankings.

Billy Napier and Will Harris deserve a lot of credit for the recruitment of Hanks as they put the full court press on him. Those relationships played a major role for Hanks, and ultimately why he decided Florida was the right school for him today. Hanks is a player that can come in and make an early impact as soon as he steps on campus.

Hanks is continuing to rise in the rankings with the way he’s played at camps during the summer and his junior season last year. He became one of the most coveted prospects in the country and reeled in offers from almost every major power 5 school. The rising senior from Miami Booker T. Washington High School recorded 38 tackles with 6 interceptions including 3 pick 6s along with a fumble recovery for a touchdown last season. He's a two sport athlete, as he also runs track for his school. You can tell that his speed on the track translates onto the football field as well. He's a legit football player that just so happens to excel in track as well.

Standing at 6’2" 175 pounds, Ben Hanks Jr. has the ability to play corner on the outside or in the slot. What makes him such a unique player is the fact that he has the length to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage and the speed to run with them. Simply put, he's one of the best players in the country. He has a chance to get on the field immediately, and he's definitely the type of cornerback the Gators have been recruiting for the past few years.

Ben Hanks is the type of kid that can be a game changer at the cornerback position for the Florida Gators. I believe he has a chance to be an All-SEC caliber player. His speed makes him a very unique challenge for opposing WRs, and he’s exactly the type of player that Florida needs. He plays with extreme confidence and poise, and that rubs off on his teammates as well. He’s a great person, player and has a very bright future ahead of him.
