Florida Gators Projected Depth Chart

As the Florida Gators prepare for the 2026 season under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall, the picture of the roster is becoming much clearer as fall camp winds down. The biggest question of the offseason, the quarterback competition, was answered Monday when Sumrall announced that Georgia Tech transfer Aaron Philo would take the majority of the first-team snaps heading into the season opener against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5. Philo won the job over redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr., although Sumrall made it clear that Jones remains firmly in the mix.

With the opener approaching, here is a projected look at Florida’s current depth chart.

Offense

Quarterback

● QB1: Aaron Philo

● QB2: Tramell Jones Jr.

● QB3: Will Griffin

Running Back

● RB1: Jadan Baugh

● RB2: Evan Pryor

● RB3: Duke Clark

● RB4: London Montgomery

Baugh enters the season as one of the most important players on the roster after rushing for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025. He was named second-team preseason All-SEC by the conference’s coaches.

Wide Receiver

● X: Dallas Wilson

● Y: Vernell Brown III

● Z: Eric Singleton Jr.

● Slot/Rotation: Bailey Stockton

● Rotation: Micah Mays Jr.

● Rotation: Justin Williams

Florida has arguably its deepest collection of playmakers at wide receiver. Wilson brings size and explosiveness, Brown provides dynamic ability both as a receiver and returner, and Singleton gives Philo another experienced weapon in the passing game.

Tight End

● TE1: Luke Harpring

Offensive Line

● LT: Bryce Lovett

The offensive line remains one of the biggest areas to watch. Sumrall acknowledged during preseason camp that Florida was still evaluating rotations up front, meaning some changes could occur once the Gators begin playing actual opponents. Since then, it seems like the offensive line is starting to take shape. Eagan Boyer, T.J. Dice and Caden Jones are guys that will be in the rotation as key backups.

Defense

Defensive Line

● END: L.J. McCray

● DT: Jeremiah McCloud

● NT: Brendan Bett

● JACK: Jayden Woods

Florida’s defensive front has plenty of experience and physicality, with sophomore Jeremiah McCloud returning after becoming a key rotation piece in 2025. Jayden Woods enters the season with preseason All-SEC recognition after being selected to the coaches’ third team.

Linebacker

● LB: Myles Graham

● LB: Jaden Robinson

● LB: Aaron Chiles

Graham is expected to be one of the leaders of Brad White’s defense, while Chiles and Robinson return as veteran leaders to give Florida one of the best linebacker rooms in the SEC. Ty Jackson and Myles Johnson are backups that are gonna have key roles at the position as well.

Cornerback

● CB1: Cormani McClain

● CB2: Ben Hanks III

● Nickel: Kanye Clark

● Rotation: Dijon Johnson

● Rotation: J’Vari Flowers

The cornerback room is another position where competition could continue into the season. Florida has several talented options capable of earning significant snaps. Cormani McClain and Ben Hanks III have solidified themselves as starters on the outside, while UCLA transfer Kanye Clark will play the STAR position. Dijon Johnson is returning  from a torn ACL and looks to play a big role at corner while J’Vari Flowers, who was forced into action due to injuries, looks to build on his impressive freshman campaign.

Safety

● S: Bryce Thornton

● S: D.J. Coleman

● Rotation: Cam Dooley

● Rotation: Lagonza Hayward

Bryce Thornton and Baylor transfer D.J. Coleman are expected to be the starting safeties while Kentucky transfer Cam Dooley and Lagonza Hayward will be the top two options off the bench. Drake Stubbs also figures to be in the rotation as well. Thornton will play the STAR position as well depending on the defensive formation.

Kicker: Patrick Durkin

Long Snapper: Carter Milliron

Kick Returner: London Montgomery & J’Vari Flowers

Punt Returner: Vernell Brown III & Justin Williams

The Bottom Line

The most significant development heading into the season is Aaron Philo being named the starting quarterback. His familiarity with Buster Faulkner’s offensive system helped give him an advantage, and Sumrall specifically pointed to Philo’s ability to make checks, adjust at the line of scrimmage and recognize defensive looks as a separator. But the Gators’ success will not rest solely on the quarterback. Florida returns a star in Jadan Baugh, has a talented trio of receivers in Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown III and Eric Singleton Jr., and has plenty of intriguing pieces on defense. This is still a projected depth chart, not an official two-deep. Sumrall has indicated that rotations, particularly along the offensive line and at several skill positions, will continue to evolve.

For a program entering a new era, the first season of the Jon Sumrall era will ultimately be about finding the right combinations and developing consistency. With the season opener against Florida Atlantic less than two weeks away, the Gators are getting closer to finding out exactly what this roster can become.
