Five-Star Plus+ IOL Maxwell Hiller Commits To Florida

The Florida Gators landed a massive commitment in the 2027 class as five-star plus+ IOL Maxwell Hiller announced his commitment to Florida over Tennessee, Alabama, and Ohio State. He joins Cottondale (Fla.) 4-star athlete Tramond Collins, Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage 4-star cornerback Amare Nugent and Centerburg (Ohio) 3-star tight end Jackson Ballinger on the commitment list. According to the Rivals Industry, a weighted average of the three major recruiting services, ranks Maxwell Hiller as the nation’s #4 overall player and #1 interior offensive lineman. Hiller becomes the highest rated OL prospect to commit to the Gators since Martez Ivey in the 2015 recruiting class.

Championship teams usually have one of, if not the best offensive linemen in the country. Landing a player like Maxwell Hiller is a a program changing commitment when you consider how long it’s been since they’ve landed a 5-star offensive lineman as I mentioned earlier. Standing at 6-foot-5 305 pounds, the Coatesville, Pennsylvania native has the size and ability to play very early once he gets on campus. Jon Sumrall and Phil Trautwein did a great job of recruiting him and making him feel like a major priority and selling him on their ability to be able to develop him at the highest level. His relationship with Trautwein from his time at Penn State was the main reason why the Gators earned his commitment.

Maxwell Hiller has the ability to play all five positions along the offensive line. The Gators will lose a couple of guys along the offensive line after the 2026 season, so he’ll have a chance to compete for a starting spot as soon as he gets on campus. I believe he’ll start off at one of the guard spots, but I could also see him playing right tackle because he has the ideal frame and footwork for the position. One of the best traits that he has is the fact that he’s never satisfied with his game and wants to continue to develop his craft as a player. Trautwein has the ability to coach him up and take his game to another level.

When you turn on the film, you notice his size right off the bat. He has very nimble feet for a guy his size considering he also plays basketball. Speaking of basketball, his younger brother Colton Hiller is ranked as the #3 overall player in the country for the 2028 class. I’d expect Florida Head Basketball Coach Todd Golden to heavily recruit him and get him on campus with his brother as well. Coach Trautwein has said he wants to sign the #1 offensive line class in the country. Landing a player like Hiller is an incredible first step in the right direction in that regard.

Maxwell Hiller is a great kid with a very bright future both on and off the field. He’s a player that has a chance to develop into an All-American caliber player. He works hard at his craft and will only get better when he gets to college. He's a massive big time piece for potentially one of the best offensive line classes in the country for the Florida Gators.
