Five Most Likely to Commit

Coach Billy Napier and his crew have hosted ELITE talent across the board on campus the past two months. However, currently the underlying thought is "when are some of these guys going to go public?" Well, one of the things I have learned even just following recruiting for the past five seasons or so is that the when is much harder to predict than the who. With currently only two public commitments, this summer/early fall is shaping up to be very telling as to what we can grow to expect in the Napier era as he looks to fill up his bump class with players with incredible skillsets who want to be a part of what UF is building. These are the five players that I believe are most likely to commit to the Gators (in no particular order).

1. Treyaun Webb (@w_treyaun)

This is one that honestly most people thought would have been made public by this point. Webb is a Gator Legacy with his cousin being Dee Webb who played at UF back in the early 2000s for Ron Zook and Urban Meyer. His cousin, Treyaun, attends Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville where he plays Running Back. Jacksonville is an area that Coach Napier and his crew need to prioritize again, and it begins with Webb. He has an official visit set for June 3 at UF. Look for Coach Napier and his army to roll out the red carpet on this one and try to get this thing finalized. Webb has not been shy about letting everyone know where the Gators stand in his recruitment, multiple times claiming that the Gators are on top. His junior year is where he really started to open up some eyes as a prospect. He came alive as a junior in the 3A state playoffs totaling 876 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in just four games. With Webb setting a commitment date for June 30, I certainly expect the Gators to get good news on that Thursday.

2. Kamran James (@thereal_kam_)

James is a player who is currently under the radar. Kamran has spent high school juggling both basketball and football, but seems to have figured out his future is on the defensive line and not as a power forward. At 6-foot-6 265 pounds with room to fill out some more weight, James is as desirable as it comes when looking at someone to rush the Quarterback. James is another player that is in the "footprint" so to say as he is from Orlando where he attends Olympia High School. According to 247, he does not have a composite ranking, but 247 ranks him as an 88 but yet Andrew Ivins projects him as a Power-Five starter. (Eye roll) He racked up 13 sacks last year playing in the highest classification of high school football in Florida. Florida is currently the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to Crystal Ball predictions, and this will be a nice addition for Coach Spencer and Coach Napier if/when it comes to fruition.

3. Bryce Lovett (@bryceLovett55)

Lovett has been a regular in Gainesville over the past month or so, making multiple trips to come visit UF. Coach Sale and Coach Stapleton have been all over a bunch of offensive lineman, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them instantly flip that room around compared to the previous coach who was in charge of offensive line play and recruiting. They have made sure to let Lovett know he is a wanted guy at UF. He would be another big body to throw on the line sizing up at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds as a junior in high school is no joke. The coaches like Lovett's ability to move between the guard and tackle spot at the college level. He had previously made a decision to announce his commitment on June 25, but has now backed off of that a bit saying it could come sooner, but probably still in June sometime. The Gators are currently in the lead for this one, and I would look for them to close it out this summer.

4. Darrell Jackson (@95productions1)

Man, this one could be huge. Everyone knows that lack of quality depth at DT is something that the Gators need to address in via the portal and recruiting ASAP. Enter Maryland transfer Darrell Jackson. Jackson is originally from Florida, but committed to Maryland as a three-star class of 2021 prospect. As a freshman last year he appeared in all 13 games, racking up 22 tackles, and starting for the Terps in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. He once again, has vocally said the Gators lead. Like most of the other prospects though, isn't quite ready to lock it in yet. He still wants to see what other programs can bring to the table by taking a few more visits. Jackson alongside Dexter in the middle of Florida's DL, could instantly turn what is looking like could be a weakness into a strength. He told Blake Alderman of 247sports that he will "know where he's going on May 15." So this is one that hopefully in less than a month now, we see join the Orange and Blue.

5. Knijeah Harris (@knijeah)

Saving the one who is most likely to be the first one to announce a public decision for last. Harris recently took to twitter to announce that he has locked in a May 7 commitment date. Harris currently attends IMG Academy where Florida was able to snag Kamari Wilson from last year, and where Coach Napier is looking to continue to build in-roads and add more talent to the Gators roster this year as well. Harris is a composite top 300 player, and would be another great addition to Coach Sale and Stapleton's offensive line. He was a MaxPreps second team All-American last year at IMG. Harris was one of many prospects in attendance for the Orange and Blue game as Coach Napier debuted his first team of Gators. Harris is close with Coach Chaney as well, who is also from Port St. Lucie. Chaney has done a terrific job on a number of recruits thus far and Harris is just another one to add to that list. Harris is set to announce his decision on May 7th with CBS Sports HQ, and Florida being the pick would not shock me based on where things stand today.
